Our Remote Retail Shop allows shoppers to hold their own stock of products at home or within their businesses and only pay when products are used (pay-as-you-use) either on a sales or rental approach. The same system can be used to support self-replenishment systems where consumed products are regularly reordered to avoid stockouts (and therefore lost sales). Finally, this infrastructure can provide consumers with readily-available product information, including existing offers and promotional messages.

Examples of target products are apparel, medicines, food and beverages, toys, books and CDs and cosmetics. An ideal use for our Remote Retail Shop is in the hospitality industry, where for instance restaurants can have their own wine cellar and only pay for each bottle when uncorked. Networks of remote readers connected through the Internet detect and report the removal and/or opening of bottles and automatically charge the associated account.
